Three people, including a newborn baby, have been killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and an ambulance at Taraganj upazila in Rangpur district.
The accident took place near Solyeasha Bazar around 5:30 am, Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Borat, 30, son of Nasir Uddin, Rafiqul Islam, 40, son of Jahanur Islam, and a seven-day-old newborn baby, hailed from Nilphamari district.
Taraganj Highway Police Station officer in-charge Mahabub Morshed said a Nilphamari-bound bus of Bhai Bhai Express collided head-on with an ambulance, leaving five family members on the ambulance injured.
The injured were rescued by locals and taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where three of them succumbed to their injuries.
Legal steps in this regard are under process, the OC added.
