Eleven cases were filed against Abbas after the BNP’s October 28 violence in Dhaka. On October 29 last year, Sub-Inspector Mostafizur Rahman of Shahjahanpur Police Station filed the cases against Mirza Abbas and 48 others. Another 700 to 800 unnamed people were accused in the case.
 
According to the case statement, after the Nayapaltan rally, under the leadership and guidance of Mirza Abbas, the accused, armed with weapons, created panic and fear among the public. They engaged in various acts of sabotage and destruction in the area under Shahjahanpur Police Station.
 
The complaint also claimed that they threw cocktails, obstructed the police work, and snatched a weapon during the incident.Abbas was arrested on October 31 night in Dhaka’s Shahidbagh in cases filed over sabotage and under the Explosives Act.
 
The court later allowed investigators to interrogate him for five days in custody. He was sent to jail after remand.
