Blockade supporters attack passenger bus in Noakhali, 5 injured

Blockade supporters attacked a passenger bus named Ekushe Paribahan in Maijdi, district town of Noakhali. Five passengers in the bus were injured.

The incident took place in front of Payra filling station at Datta bari mor area of the upazila around 11:30 am on Sunday.

Chairman of Ekushe Paribahan Ahid Uddin Mukul confirmed this information. He said five passengers in the bus were injured in the attack by the blockade-supporters. Later they took first aid and left for Dhaka in the same car.

According to eyewitness sources, a bus of Ekushe Paribahan left for Dhaka with 28 passengers from Sonapur bus terminal at around 11 am. On the way, when the bus reached Payra filling station in Dutta Bari Mor area of Noakhali to Feni regional highway, the supporters of the blockade started throwing bricks and stones at the bus. At that time five passengers in the bus were injured.

On the other hand, in front of Rashid Colony, Godar Mosque, Kar Bhawan, Noa Convention Hall of Sadar Upazila of the district, the supporters of the blockade held small demonstrations in support of the blockade. Apart from this, a protest march was held on Bank Road in Chaumuhani Bazar, Begumganj. Police have arrested 10 people on regular cases and warrants.

Inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman Pathan, who is in charge of the OC of Sudharam Police Station, said that the miscreants threw bricks and stones at the moving bus from a lane next to the road. In this, a passenger who broke 3-4 windows of the bus was injured.
