BNP leader and former mayor of Barishal City Corporation (BCC) Ahsan Habib Kamal passed away at his residence in the capital on Sunday night. He was 67.
Family sources said that Kamal felt sick at his house around 11pm on Saturday. Later, his family members rushed him to the United Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Kamal, the fisheries affairs secretary of the BNP central committee and the president of Barishal district unit (south) of the party, left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives, friends and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Ahsan Habib Kamal was elected the BCC mayor in 2013.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Barishal Zila School premises around 2pm this noon, said family sources.
