In Narayanganj-4 Constituency, there have been allegations of attacks on activists including Salim Ahmed, the candidate of “Ektara” symbol nominated by Liberal Islamic Jot. Six people including Salim Ahmed were injured. The incident took place on Friday evening when the candidate and his party leaders were distributing leaflets in the area of Fatullah.Salim Ahmed, the candidate of Liberal Islamic Alliance, said that he is conducting election campaigns with party leaders and workers in various areas after getting “Ektara” symbol. From Friday morning too, we campaigned in different areas and distributed leaflets. In the afternoon, a group of at least 20-25 people, including supporters of the “Nouka” candidate, Abzal Miah and his son Imran, came and blocked our way while distributing leaflets in the Qutub Ail Katherpool area. Then our party leaders and workers were prevented from distributing leaflets.He also said that when Abzal and his son Imran protested, their people beat up six of our leaders and activists. When I went to rescue them, they beat me and made me bleed. The police rescued us after receiving information.Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatulla Model Police Station Noore Azam said that the police immediately rushed to the spot after receiving the news. None of the attackers was found. However, efforts are underway to arrest the attackers. Legal action will be taken in this incident.
