Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) on Wednesday recovered 2800 litres of stolen oil from Hatiya uapzila in Noakhali district.
BCG Hatiya station official Lt KM Shofiul Kinjal said a team of the station conducted a drive in Nalchira Ghat area this morning and found 2,000 litres of diesel fuel and 800 litres of palm oil.
However, oil smugglers managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of the coast guard.
Later, the seized oil was handed over to Hatiya UNO office, the BCG official added.
