Tannery owners bought around 550,000 rawhides in the first two days on Eid-ul-Azha.
Around 350,000 rawhides were collected on Sunday, while the rest were collected the next day, Bangladesh Tanners Association (BTA) Chairman Shahin Ahmed told Bangla Tribune.
Usually, seasonal traders collect the majority of the rawhides during the Eid-ul-Azha but this year tannery owners have increased the amount.
Shahin Ahmed said that they will start buying rawhides from the warehouses in and outside the capital from Friday and Saturday.
They expect to procure around 950,000 rawhides this season.
Meanwhile, BTA Secretary and Managing Director of Salma Tannery Md Shakhawat Ullah said that they will start collected salted rawhides from the various warehouses in Dhaka from Wednesday.
Tannery owners said that they will start processing the rawhides a few days after collecting them from the warehouses.
