Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 43 gold bars measuring 5.14 kg from Sharsha border in Jashore.
Estimated value of the gold recovered from Bhulot of the upazila Friday night is Tk 3,50,56,000.
Fleeing smugglers are identified as Abdullah, son of Mizan, and Ripon, son of Abdul Gafur, both hailing from Bhulot area.
Lt Col Tanvir Rahman, Commander of 21 BGB, said they had prior intelligence report on the transborder gold consignment.
During a drive, one of the smugglers jumped into bordering Ichamati River and apparently fled to India, leaving a bag of gold bars.
Another smuggler who did not jump into the river also managed to escape arrest.
BGB members are desperately trying to apprehend the culprits, Lt Col Tanvir added.
