A Dhaka court has placed BNP vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on three-day remand in a case filed over the attack on the Chief Justice (CJ)’s official residence during BNP's grand rally in the capital on October 28.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order as police produced the BNP leader before the court and pleaded to place him on five-day remand in the case filed with Paltan Police Station.
Detective branch of police detained Dudu from his sister's house in cantonment area in the early hours of Monday.
A group of 15-20 plainclothes men, identifying themselves as DB, picked up Dudu from his sister's Cantonment residence around 12am, claimed BNP chairperson's press wing member Shamsuddin Didar.
BNP men on October 28 allegedly attacked the residence of the chief justice, breaking down one of the gates. They hurled brickbats towards the main building indiscriminately.
Police filed the case with Ramna Police Station against 59 leaders and activists of BNP, including its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, vice-chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, Abdul Awal Mintoo and Shamsuzzaman Dudu.
