The National Moon Sighting Committee will sit for a meeting to see the moon of month of Shaban for Holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness.
They will sit at 6:20pm after Maghrib prayers on Tuesday (February 21) .
The meeting led by State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital.
Islamic Foundation published the news at a press release issued on Monday.
Countrymen are requested to inform deputy commissioners (DCs) or Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) through phone numbers 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916 and 02-41050917 or fax numbers 02-223383397 and 02-9555951 if the moon is sighted anywhere in the country,
Shab-e-Barat is celebrated on the 15th night of month of Shaban. At the end of Shaban, Ramadan starts.
If moon is sighted on Tuesday, Shab-e-Barat will be observed on the night of March 7. If the moon is not sighted, it will be observed the following night.
