Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has sought the list of absent head teachers, assistant head teachers and assistant teachers on Sunday (July 23) without permission of the authorities concerned.
DSHE's Dhaka office sent a letter to the district education officials. In the letter, they asked to submit the list by Monday.
This list has been sought when the Bangladesh Teachers' Association is holding a sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club since July 11 demanding nationalisation of secondary education.
DSHE earlier cancelled the two-week-long summer vacation which was scheduled to begin last Thursday (July 20) for secondary schools and colleges across the country.
