Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said the government has taken plan to set up a university in each district and a medical university in every division of the country prioritising education.
Dipu Moni revealed this information while speaking in the question-answer session of the parliament on Tuesday.
She said there are some 701 government colleges in the country.
Replying to a question of lawmaker Kazim Uddin Ahmed, the education minister said there are now eight public agricultural universities and one private agricultural university.
The agricultural universities are situated in Mymensingh, Gazipur, Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Khulna, Habiganj, and Kurigram. The activity of setting up two agricultural universities in Shariatpur and Natore is going on.
