The Awami League (AL) has temporarily expelled Shadhurpara Union Parishad Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu over the murder of Jamalpur journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim.
The party confirmed the expulsion decision through a press release, signed by Bakshiganj upazila AL president Shahina Begum and general secretary Ismail Hossain Talukder, on Friday.
Around 10pm on June 14, some miscreants attacked Nadim, Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com, in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Upazila in Jamalpur when he was returning home ending his professional duty.
Locals took injured Nadim to Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital the next day. Nadeem succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at around 2.45pm.
Shadhurpara Union Parishad Chairman Babu has been expelled temporarily in connection with journalist Nadim murder and for breaking the party discipline.
