Public transport in Chattogram is not running properly due to increase in fuel prices.
Public transport of Chattogram Metropolitan Transport owners’ Group has kept their operation on the roads stopped since Saturday (August 6) morning.
The president of the organisation Belayet Hossain said that the price of fuel oil has increased. But the rent did not adjust. In this situation, if the rent is not increased, it will not be possible to run the vehicles. So the rent has to be re-fixed.
About 600 public transports operate under the platform on various routes of the city.
Meanwhile, other public transport services are operating. However, the drivers said that they are getting obstacles at various places while driving.
Office-goers and working people have been suffering since morning without getting public transport. Rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and motorcycles have to be taken on rent to the destination.
