The Institution of Engineers, the national organization of
engineers, has awarded lifelong and posthumous honors to outstanding engineers.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain MP, Chairman of the Standing Committee on the
Ministry of Housing and Public Works, presented the award at the IEB auditorium
in the capital on Saturday (May 21) evening.
Mr. Ruhul Matin, Chairman and Founder of RM Group, was
posthumously honored at the ceremony for his important role in the
establishment of IEB and for his special contribution in strengthening the IEB
in later times. The award was received
by the wife Shakila Matin, his son Khaled Hasan Matin, daughter Saira Matin and
daughter-in-law Rezwana Chowdhury onbehalh of Late Engineer ruhul Matin.
Engineer MA Jabbar (posthumous), Founder President of
Institution of Engineers Bangladesh, Engineer Rafiq Uddin Ahmed (posthumous),
Professor Dr. 18 engineers including Jamilur Reza Chowdhury (posthumously) were
given posthumous honors for their role in building the country and development
of engineers. Besides, Engineer Golam Mohammad Alamgir, Engineer Sirajul Majid
Mamun, Engineer Delwar Majumdar and a total of 8 engineers were given lifetime
achievement awards.
He was the late engineer Kamrul Islam Siddique, MA Jabbar,
Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, Professor. Recalling the important role played by Jamilur
Reza Chowdhury in mobilizing the rural economy for the development of war-torn
Bangladesh, he said that they have worked tirelessly to bring IEB to this
stage. Their contribution will always be remembered. Abdus Sabur, Secretary for
Science and Technology of Awami League and former IEB President Engineer was
present as special guest. The event was presided over by IEB President Engineer
Nurul Huda. After receiving the posthumous award, Engineer Ruhul Matin's worthy
son RM Group Managing Director Khaled Hasan Matin and his family expressed
their gratitude to all the members of IEB Board of Directors.
