A massive fire incident that took place at New Super Market in the capital in the early morning today was brought under control, claimed Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, director general of Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
The DG of Fire Service talked to the journalists at gate number 4 of the market at about 10:30am.
He said the fire, which started at around 5:40am this morning, was brought under control after three and a half hours at 9:10am.
A dozen of people, mainly fire service personnel, have been injured in the fire. They are now receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
A total of 30 firefighting units and firefighting teams of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force are currently working to bring the blaze under control.
