Abdul Hannan Molla, the father of murdered child Ramisa Akter, expressed deep frustration over the justice system while speaking to journalists following his daughter’s killing. “I do not want justice because you will not be able to deliver it. There is no record of justice from you,” he said.
“You will not be able to deliver justice. My daughter will never come back. This may continue for 15 days at most, and then another incident will happen. After that, it will all be buried.”
The tragic incident took place on Tuesday in the capital’s Pallabi area, where child Ramisa Akter was found murdered.
Police have arrested neighbor Sohel Rana (30) and his wife Swapna in connection with the case.
At a press briefing on Tuesday night, S N Nazrul Islam said the accused couple had moved into the apartment opposite Ramisa’s family only two months ago.a
According to police, around 10:30am, Ramisa’s mother was searching for her to send her to school and noticed the child’s sandals outside the suspects’ apartment. Investigators believe the murder was taking place while she was knocking on the door.
Police said the suspect’s wife allegedly kept the door closed for an extended period to help Sohel Rana avoid detection.
Authorities suspect the child may have been targeted due to the suspect’s distorted motives. Investigators believe fear of exposure after the incident may have led to the killing. Police also stated that efforts were allegedly made to conceal evidence and hide the body. Further details will depend on postmortem and forensic reports.
