Govt considers opposition as threat: Fakhrul
Politics

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said at present, the existence of the opposition party has become a threat to the government.

“Misdeeds like arbitrary arrests, staging incidents to lodge false cases are now the only programmes of the government. And the government is shamelessly using the administration and police to implement those programmes,” said Fakhrul in statement on Friday.

He made this statement protesting the arrest of Feni Jubo Dal president Zakir Hossain Jasim. Members of the law enforcement agencies arrested him from Kakrail in Dhaka on Thursday evening.

Fakhrul said as sequel to their (government) misdeeds they arrested Feni Jubo Dal president on false charges.

The BNP secretary general further alleged that Jasim was taken to his home in Feni where bombs and arms were seized in a pre-planned manner. “He (Jasim) was threatened by law enforcement agency in front of his family members.”

Terming the case against Jasim as false and fabricated, the BNP secretary general strongly condemned and protested the incident.
