Four persons were killed and four others injured in a road accident in Gopalganj's Sadar upazila on Thursday morning.
The accident took place in Arambagh area on the Dhaka-Khulna highway at around 7:30 am.
However, the identities of the deceased could be known immediately.
Police said an ambulance was heading towards Dhaka from Khulna with patient. On the way, a truck carrying an excavator hit the ambulance from the opposite direction in that area. One person died on the spot as the two vehicles overturned.
Later, being informed, police and fire service personnel rescued the seven injured but one died on the way to Gopalganj General Hospital and two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital on arrival.
Gopalganj Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Javed Masud confirmed the matter.
