Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said formation of committees with own people and relatives will not be allowed to take place.
He made the remarks while speaking at the Awami League's Mymensingh Divisional Representatives' Conference on Thursday (January 26) afternoon.
"Committees formed with own people and relatives will not be allowed. Committees must have to be formed with the dedicated leaders who were beside the party during its hard times," he said.
"Don't make leaders looking at their faces. Please form the committees as early as possible," he said.
Referring to the BNP, Quader said they never walk on the path of democracy. Rather, Awami League is the only party which exercises democracy. "We exercise democracy, BNP doesn't. Awami League is the only party in the country which exercises democracy internally."
The Awami League general secretary also said BNP complains to foreigners that there is no democracy inside Awami League. But, BNP doesn't hold any conference centrally. They don't even hold party meetings. "They will establish democracy in the country. It is nothing but surprising."
With Awami League Presidium Member and Deputy Leader of the House Matia Chowdhury, the meeting was also attended by AL Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, Organising Secretaries Mirza Azam and Shafiul Alam Nadel, Cultural Affairs secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Huque, Awami League central and Mymensingh division representatives.
