Cyclone 'Midhili' has weakened after striking at the Bangladesh coast.

The cyclone Midhili has weakened after crossing Patuakhali and adjoining areas, a Met Office special weather bulletin said.

According to the Met office sources, 'Midhili' moved to northeastwards further and weakened gradually by giving precipitation. Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay.

The Met office said it in its latest cyclone bulletin at 4:00pm that as cyclone 'Midhili' becomes weakened, the Mongla and Payra ports have been advised to lower the  danger Signal 7 to local cautionary Signal 3, while the Chattogram and Cox's Bazar ports have been advised to lower the danger Signal 6 to local cautionary Signal 3.

Both the BMD and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief earlier said 'Midhili' would not be a major cyclonic storm. In reality, it did not last long. However, torrential rain and gusty winds in different parts of the country including coastal districts took place under its influence.

BMD's meteorologist Md Omar Faruque said the maximum speed of the wind in cyclone was in Patuakhali. At about 3:00pm, the speed of the wind there was 102 kmph.
