The Conscious Reliance Forum, led by Mohammad Hanif, has secured a decisive victory in the 2026 election of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the country’s leading tourism industry body. The panel won 14 out of 16 contested positions.
Meanwhile, the TOAB Agragami Oikya Jote, led by Md. Taslim Amin Shovon, secured one position, while Md. Tamim Ahmed won one position as an independent candidate.
Voting was held on Tuesday (June 16) at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Tourism Corporation in Agargaon, Dhaka, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Through direct voting by general members, 16 directors were elected to various positions, including that of President. An additional four directors were elected unopposed.
Md. Zahir Uddin, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Mominul Islam Asif, and Md. Nasir Uddin Badal were elected unopposed.
Mohammad Hanif was elected President. Syed Shafat Uddin Ahmed Tamal was elected First Vice-President, Md. Moinul Islam as Vice-President-1, Ziaur Rahman Zakir as Vice-President-2, and Zahir Ahmed Helal as Director (Finance).
Among other elected office-bearers, Md. Firozul Islam was elected Director for International Affairs, Md. Abul Baset Babu as Director for Trade and Fairs, Md. Robiul Islam Robi as Director for Legal Affairs, Md. Abu Raihan Sarkar as Director for Printing and Publications, Naimul Hasan as Director for Training and Research, Syed Md. Imtiaz as Director for Culture and Sports, A.B.M. Zakaria (Rajib) as Director for Membership and Human Welfare, and Shakawat Hossain as Director for Property and Assets.
The elected Directors include Mohammad Mohiuddin, Md. Tamim Ahmed, and Md. Nurul Anwar.
The organization had a total of 423 voters, including 410 general voters and 13 associate voters. A total of 365 members exercised their voting rights in the election.
Representatives from various tourism-sector organizations, including ATAB, HAB, TDAB, BD Inbound, and TRIAB, were present as observers during the election. A three-member Election Commission conducted the polls, while a separate three-member Appeals Commission was responsible for resolving complaints.
Stakeholders in the tourism industry have described the victory of the Conscious Reliance Forum as a significant milestone that is expected to contribute to the development of Bangladesh’s tourism sector and further strengthen TOAB’s activities.
