At least four people were killed and seven others injured when a bus collided head-on with a microbus at Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj on Monday.
The accident took place at the Bakharnagar area under the upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 1:40pm.
The deceased were identified as Dil Nahar, 55, Helena, 22, and Murad Mia, 22. The identity of another deceased could not be known immediately.
Mohammad Saleh Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shaistaganj Highway police station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus of Al Mubaraka Paribahan from Sylhet collided head-on with a microbus, coming from the opposite direction, leaving three people including the microbus driver dead on the spot.”
Upon receiving the information, the highway police and Fire Service personnel rescued the injured and sent them to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital where one succumbed to his injuries, he added.
