The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expelled its leader Kamrul Ahsan Rupom for life for taking part in the upcoming Barishal City Corporation election as independent mayor candidate going against the party decision.
The party issued a press release, signed by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, in this regard on Saturday.
The press release said, the party is taking organisational action against Rupom as he is participating in the Barishal city polls, slated for June 12, ignoring its decision.
On June 2, BNP issued a show-cause notice to Kamrul Ahsan Rupom. Later, Rupom replied to the notice which was not satisfactory.
