BNP does politics with flood victims: Hasan
Politics

BNP never stands by the flood victims but it does politics with them, Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud has said.

“BNP and some prominent people who have NGOs, where are they now? They cannot be found anywhere. Some people are busy on talk shows, but they are not seen beside people. Mirza Fakhrul is giving tall talks from Dhaka. In fact, BNP never stands by the victims but does politics with them,” said the minister at programme held at Awami League’s central office in city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on Friday.

The ruling party arranged a relief materials distribution programme among the flood victims of Kurigram and Netroakona districts in the afternoon

Although the BNP leaders are not on the side of the people but the Awami League is always on the side of the people, said the Information Minister.

He said Awami League is always by the side of the people whether it is in power or not.

“Awami League stands beside the people in the past and will be in the future. On the other hand, the BNP never stands beside the flood victims but does politics with them.”

Hasan said that one of the main characteristics of the Awami League is to stand beside the affected people at first. Awami League has always been doing that as per the direction of Sheikh Hasina, he said.

Mentioning that his party men first rushed in Sylhet as soon as flood affected there, he said, “Our leaders and workers stood beside the victims in many places before the administration. Their own houses have inundated and those who have capabilities stand by the victims.”

Hasan said the Prime Minister herself went to visit the flood victims. “Now floods have affected in North Bengal. Relief materials are being sent there on the instructions of the Prime Minister, our leaders and workers are delivering the relief materials.”

Awami League’s relief and social welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi presided over the programme where the party’s health and population secretary Rokeya Sultana, central committee members Hosne Ara Lutfa Dahlia and Adv. Safura Khatun, spoke, among others.
