Awami League govt turns Bangladesh into a failed state: Fakhrul
Politics

The Awami League government has turned the entire country into a failed state, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He said the government was not elected by the people. They have clinged to power making people fool and killing democracy-loving people through abduction.

Mirza Fakhrul was speaking at a workers' rally organised at Nayapaltan in the capital on Monday in observance of the historic May Day.

A large number of leaders and workers of BNP, Sramik Dal and other associate organisations of the party joined the rally.

Addressing the ruling Awami League, the BNP Secretary General alleged that they wanted to hold anjother farcical election in the same old way. They have started threatening and intimidating people so that voters cannot cast their ballots and they can grab thye power once again.

Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the entire country has been turned into a massive prison. "Thousands of our leaders and workers have been arrested and put into in prisons. This Awami League government had established one-party government in 1975 breaking the dreams of our independence. In sequel to it, they want to establish one-party rule again in the country in North Korean style. They are not elected by the people."

Terming the Awami League government as an anti-peasant government, anti-worker government, and anti-people government, Fakhrul said it has no relation with people at grassroots level. "So, they have resorted to using law enforcing agencies and the statecraft to cling to power ignoring the people constantly."
