Fakhrul making childish remarks on election: Quader
Politics

Criticising BNP secretary general for his remarks about next general election, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that Mirza Fakhrul Islam is repeatedly making childish remarks by saying that they would not join in the general election.

He further said, “We have repeatedly said that election will be held on due time in accordance with the country's constitution. There will be a change of power through the people’s vote in the election.”

The Awami League general secretary in a statement on Saturday said that any provision outside the constitution is tantamount to obstructing the democratic and constitutional systems of the country.

Quader said the remarks of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul have revealed the mental bankruptcy of the party.

Mentioning that BNP is daydreaming to form a subservient government for their foreign masters through conspiracies, Obaidul Quader said, “People would not accept the conspiracy to stop the electoral process and the return of power to the hands of undemocratic evil forces under any condition.”

He further said BNP couldn't do any welfare-oriented activities but resorted to autocracy, corruption, looting, terrorism, militancy and extreme-communalism.

“Corruption was institutionalized under the leadership of Tarique Rahman through Hawa Bhawan. Bangladesh was turned into a paradise of terrorism and militancy.”

Under direct patronize of BNP’s top leaders, gruesome grenade attack was carried out on August 21, 2004 to wipe out the then main opposition Awami League to remove all obstacles on their path to prolong their illegal power, said Obaidul Quader.

He said whenever BNP came to power people were repressed due to its fascist and aggressive characteristics.
