The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) on Monday arrested a man who investigators say ordered the assassination of Md Azim Uddin, leader of Rohingya boatmen in a Cox’s Bazar refugee camp.
Forty-year-old Moulvi Anas was detained from Ukhiya Camp-19 at around 9:30pm, said Kamran Hossain, additional superintendent of APBn-8.
“Moulvi is believed to be the mastermind behind the killing. He went into hiding following the murder,” he added. So far, four people have been detained in this connection.
On Sunday, APBn-8 arrested three persons - Md Hasim, 40, Md Jaber, 32, and Elias, 40, from two separate Rohingya camps in the district.
A group of people hacked Azim to death with locally made weapons on Thursday night.
The victim's wife Sanjida filed a case in connection with the murder.
