A sexagenarian who went to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj has died.

Nurul Amin, 64, who hailed from Noakhali, died in Makka on Thursday, according to the Bangladesh Hajj office in the city. His passport number is EF0758006.

So far two pilgrims from Bangladesh have died in Saudi Arabia this year.

Md Jahangir Kabir, a resident of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, died on June 11. 

A total of 15,724 Bangladeshis have reached the holy city for the annual pilgrimage, as of Thursday.

The first Hajj flight of the country left Dhaka on June 5.

Hajj is open to those who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and are under the age of 65.

Last year only 58,745 pilgrims performed Hajj from across the world because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Before the pandemic some 2.5 million people used to travel to Saudi Arabia every year for Hajj.
