Following a three-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest is set to raise its curtain again on January 5.

Registration has begun already on Thursday.

For the first time in 10 editions, DLF introduced a ticket system. Tickets can be purchased through an online payment. They can also be found in a few specific places.

Venues, where tickets will be available, are – Dhaka Lit Fest Office (Niketan), Meena Sweets (Banani Experience Zone and Panthpath Branch), Meena Bazar (Dhanmondi 27, Uttara outlet, ECB Chattar outlet, Shantinagar outlet, Banasree and Moghbazar outlet), Banglar Mishti (Banani and Gulshan outlets), Aarong (Mirpur, Gulshan and Uttara outlets) and North South University.

People can complete their registration by clicking this link or visiting the event website (www.dhakalitfest.com) by entering their name, age, gender, occupation, mobile number, and email.

After entering all the information correctly, they will be able to select their ticket category.

People who will attend the upcoming Dhaka Lit Fest will have to pay for admission, unlike the previous nine editions of the event, but entry is still free for children under the age of 12.

General admissions will cost Tk500 for a day and Tk1,500 for four days.

Students will get a discount and have to pay Tk200 for one day and Tk500 for four days.

The organizers will also sell VIP tickets – Tk3,000 for a day and Tk10,000 for four days.

VIP ticket holders will enjoy the added benefits of VIP ID cards, a special VIP queue to enter the festival, access to a VIP lounge with meals (including lunch) and free parking.

Besides, there will be an opportunity to join as a sponsor of the event. Anyone who buys a ticket worth Tk3,000 will be considered as a sponsor of Dhaka Lit Fest.

In this case, a four-day ticket will be available for Tk10,000. Free parking facility and access to special lounge of Dhaka Lit Fest with a VIP ID card (including lunch) will be available under the patron category.

However, they will not get any special benefits in the Lit Fest sessions.

Earlier, regarding ticket system at the Lit Fest, DLF Director Kazi Anis Ahmed told Bangla Tribune: “We want the help of viewers, listeners and readers to make Lit Fest more sustainable by reducing the dependence on corporate or government sponsorship.”

“We hope that literature lovers will join the Lit Fest as partners with these affordable tickers,” said Kazi Anis.

The DLF director said: “Many festivals abroad charge a separate fee for each session after registration. Here, we are providing an opportunity to enjoy all the sessions in one ticket.”

“We think that ticket prices for general people and students have been kept very affordable. Also, a sponsorship opportunity is being given to literature lovers through special tickets,” he added.

Over 500 speakers, performers, and thinkers representing five continents will participate in the four-day event of the 10th edition of Dhaka Lit Fest.

One of the attractions of this year's Lit Fest is Abdulrazak Gurnah, who won the Nobel Prize in 2021. Apart from this, two winners of the Booker Prize 2022, Geetanjali Shree and Shehan Karunatilaka will also attend the festival.

Besides, Dhaka Lit Fest is set to feature internationally acclaimed prize-winning speakers, Neustadt International, PEN/Pinter, Prix Médicis, Academy Award, Windham-Campbell Prize, Albert Medal, Waterstones Children's Book Prize, Aga Khan Award and other famous award winners.
