Police have detained a young man, who was seen opening the screws of the newly inaugurated Padma Bridge in a video that went viral on Sunday.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police picked him up on Sunday.
A superintendent of CID’s Cyber Crime division confirmed the matter to online media outlet Bangla Tribune.
The Detective Branch is also questioning him to figure out whether it was a prank or if there was any motive behind it.
The source said that if he had any ulterior motive, steps are likely to be taken against him.
If it was just a prank, he will most likely be released after signing a bond.
On Sunday, a video of a young man opening the screws of the Padma Bridge went viral on social media. The video sparked outrage as it is one of the few incidents that showed the public breaking rules on the bridge only a day into the opening.
