Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said elections will not be held at night, it will be held as per the rules.

“I want to make it clear that no voting will be held at night,” the CEC told reporters at his office at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Extending his support to the remarks of Election Commissioner Anisur, CEC Habibul Awal said, “The voting of day will surely be happened at day. Our Election Commissioner (Anisur) in his speech in Madaripur cleared that the voting of day will be held at day.”

The CEC further said time has not come yet to decide on whether to take a challenge on EVMs.

“I have repeatedly said that we are in responsible position. There would be 10 more meetings on this issue (EVMs). It could not be logical if we throw the challenge now saying that there is no error in EVM,” he added.

Habibul Awal said, “We had done already five meetings (on EVMS) and failed to get trust completely yet. There will be more meetings and review regarding this. If necessary we will hold an open meeting.”

He further said, “We have said that we want to gain everyone’s trust on EVM. There will be a technical meeting tomorrow as well.”

The CEC said they have no intention of turning the elections into a farce and saying this sincerely.
