Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in early Wednesday arrested three people including a top drug smuggler alongwith 21kg of crystal meth, known as ice, from Cox's Bazar.
It is reportedly the biggest seizure of the drug in the country's history.
A team of BGB 34 Battalion conducted a drive at Balukhali area at Ukhiya upazila around 4am getting a secret information that a drug consignment from Myanmar was being smuggled into Bangladesh and arrested three persons including 'Yaba Godfather' Buzrukh, said BGB public relation officer Md Shariful Islam on Wednesday.
Two other arrested men are Md Ismail, 23, and Saiyadul Bashar, 40.
A case has been filed with Ukhiya Police Station in connection with the incident, Shariful Islam added.
Crystal meth, a dangerously addictive stimulant, despite its steep prices, has become fairly popular among the youth in Bangladesh, especially in Dhaka.
