A case has been filed against 112 lawyers over Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election violence.

Advocate Moniruzzaman, convener of the election sub-committee of the Supreme Court Lawyers Association, filed the case on Thursday night with Shahbagh Police Station.

BNP-backed lawyers' panel president Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, general secretary Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajol have been made accused among 112 people.

Meanwhile, over 500 law enforcement agencies police took position in front of the Supreme Court on Thursday to avert further incident.

On Wednesday, the first day of the two-day annual SCBA election was marred by police assault on journalists and pro-BNP lawyers, and clashes between pro-AL and pro-BNP lawyers.

The voting started around 10 am but, later, it was suspended immediately when some pro-BNP lawyers staged demonstrations demanding formation of election conducting committee led by a neutral person.

A seven-member sub-committee led by senior lawyer Mansurul Haque Chowdhury, was formed earlier for conducting the election. But he resigned from the post on personal ground on March 13.

Later, pro-Awami League Ainjibi Parishad formed a sub-committee led by freedom fighter Maniruzzaman, while the pro-BNP Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel formed another committee headed by ASM Moktar Kabir.

Besides, miscreants tore down 3000 ballot papers sometime on Tuesday (March 14) night.
