Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan on Sunday said passengers without tickets will no longer be allowed to enter railway stations nor can they travel by train.
The minister was speaking to journalists during his visit to Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka.
Sujan stated that 100% of preparations have been completed to make Eid trips safe and enjoyable for homebound people.
For the first time, all advance train tickets were sold online, he added.
The minister also informed that trains bound for Dhaka will not stop at Dhaka Airport Railway Station to prevent the entry of unauthorized travellers.
Stating that railway employees will not have any holidays, the minister emphasized that their commitment to ensuring passengers' safe journeys during Eid-ul-Fitr will persist.
Regarding schedule disruptions, Sujan said it could not be called a schedule disruption at this point.
“However, if there is an accident while a train is running on a single line, it may lead to schedule problems,” he added.
Standing tickets will also be provided for Eid trips, he said adding: “Around 45,000 passengers will leave Dhaka daily with both seating and standing tickets on intercity trains.”
