The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday upheld the HC directive of inquiring corruption allegations against Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials including its president.
At the same time, the Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui upheld the status quo order.
The court ordered the High Court to dispose the rule issued in this regard within three weeks.
Earlier on June 25, Justice Md Abu Jafor Siddique, chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the SC, issued status quo on a part of the HC order that directed the agencies to probe the corruption allegations.
The chamber judge on that day upheld the High Court directive that asked the agencies concerned to conduct an inquiry into corruption allegations against some officials of the BFF including its president Kazi Salahuddin and its vice-president and finance committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy.
On May 15, the HC ordered the Anti-Corruption Commissioner (ACC) Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), Bangladesh Bank, National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Youth and Sports Ministry to conduct an inquiry into the corruption allegations raised against the officials concerned of BFF and to submit the probe reports before it in four months.
