The Bam Gonotantrik Jot proceeded with a peaceful procession towards the Election Commission office from the capital's Paltan junction on Sunday morning, but the police barricaded the procession in front of the National Press Club. At that time, the police clashed with the activists of the left alliance. When the Left Alliance workers tried to break the barricade, the police attacked the workers. In this situation, some workers of the Left Alliance were injured. In the face of police obstruction, the leaders of the Bam Gonotantrik Jot sat there and held a protest rally there.

Iqbal Kabir Zahid, general secretary of Revolutionary Communist League and current coordinator of Left Alliance, presided over the meeting. General Secretary of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Ruhin Hossain Prince, General Secretary of Gonotantrik Biplobi Party Moshrefa Mishu, General Secretary of Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BASAD) Bazlur Rashid Feroz, Coordinator of BASAD (Marxist) Masood Rana and Executive President of Samajtantrik Party Abdul Ali gives speech in the rally. 

Nazrul Islam, leader of the Bam Jot, conducted the rally. CPB president Shah Alam, BASAD leader Rajikuzzaman Ratan, Democratic Revolutionary Party central leader Shahidul Islam Sabuj, BASAD (Marxist) leader Seema Dutta and others were present among the leaders. Speakers of the rally strongly criticized the government for going ahead with one-sided elections without paying attention to the demands of the opposition political parties, which is an expression of the autocratic character of the government. In the rally, the leaders strongly demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the dissolution of parliament, immediately handing over power to a non-partisan oversight government. The leaders demanded the resignation of the entire Election Commission including the Chief Election Commissioner and said that there is still time to accept the demands of the people and hand over power to a non-partisan, impartial oversight government. Stop organizing unilateral elections immediately. If not, the country will fall into a serious political crisis, the leaders said. The leaders strongly condemned and protested the obstruction of the march towards the Election Commission office and the police attack on the workers.

In addition, he strongly condemned and protested the Election Commission's ban on political gatherings from December 18 to January 7. The Left Alliance leaders said in a strong voice that the Left Alliance leaders expressed their determination to be with the people on the streets from December 18 to January 7.
