Pirojpur Correspondent:
Akbar Ali (85), an
injured patient from the ceiling plaster fall of the cabin of Pirojpur District
Hospital, died. He died at Khulna City
Hospital around 1 pm on
Tuesday. Akbar Ali's brother's son Manjurul Islam confirmed this information.
However, they said that they will not take any legal action. Manjurul Islam,
the son of Akbar Ali's brother of Kadamtala Union of Sadar Upazila, said that
last Sunday afternoon, Akbar Ali was admitted to the district hospital after
suffering from heart disease. On Monday afternoon, my uncle was seriously
injured when the plaster of the district hospital's roof fell on his body. Around
1 o'clock that night, he was first taken to Khulna's
Garib Newaz
Hospital and later to Aaish Bed
Hospital. As no treatment
was available there, he was taken to Khulna
Abu Naser
Hospital after 12 o'clock
last night. But Akbar Ali died that night before the treatment started. He also
said that such an accident happened due to mismanagement of the district
hospital. If they had monitored the condition of the hospital building, this
accident would not have happened. In this regard, when we tried to contact the
resident medical officer (RMO) of the district hospital, Dr. Nizam Uddin, he
did not receive the call. Civil Sojourn Dr. Hasanat Yusuf Zaki said, Akbar Ali
was suffering from heart disease and old age. We did not understand that such
an accident would happen. There was no sign of the plaster of the roof falling
off. We are sorry for this tragic accident.
