A petition has been filed seeking stay on a High Court order that cleared the way for GM Quader to perform his duties as Jatiya Party chairman.
Lawyer Helal Uddin confirmed the matter on Thursday.
A hearing on the petition is likely to be held on February 12, he said.
Expelled Jatiya Party leader and former MP Ziaul Haque Mridha filed the appeal with chamber judge court on Thursday.
Earlier on Sunday (February 5), the High court stayed the lower court embargo on GM Quader and cleared the way for him to perform his duties as Jatiya Party chairman.
At the same time, the court issued a rule asking Mridha and other authorities concerned to explain why the Dhaka court order should not be scrapped.
Jatiya Party's suspended leader Ziaul Haque Mridha filed the case against GM Quader on October 4, last year.
