Ashraful Alam Jitu, a Class X student of Haji Yunus Ali School and College in Ashulia, killed teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker with cricket stump to make him hero to a schoolgirl, RAB informed.
Rapid Action Battalion's legal and media wing director commander Khandaker Al Moin disclosed this in a press briefing on Thursday.
During interrogation, Jiru said a few days ago before the incident, Utpal Kumar had told him to refrain from hanging out with a schoolgirl which made Jitu angered. To show his heroism, Jitu beat lecturer Utpal Kumar Sarker of the Department of Political Science at Haji Yunus Ali School and College at Chitrashail with a cricket stump mercilessly on June 25.
Later, the critically injured Utpal Sarker succumbed at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar while underwent treatment there.
Ashraful Alam Jitu went into hiding soon after the incident, Khandaker Al Moin said.
He was arrested from Sreepur in Gazipur district by RAB on Wednesday evening.
Earlier, a court in Dhaka placed 45-year-old Md Ujjal Hossain, father of Jitu, on a five-day remand for questioning in teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker murder case at Ashulia in Savar.
