Patient admissions stop at Ad-Din Hospital after license cancellation

Patient admissions stop at Ad-Din Hospital after license cancellation
Bangladesh

New patient admissions at Ad-Din Hospital in Dhaka stopped on Saturday, a day after the government decided to cancel its license.

Some of the patients already admitted had begun leaving after receiving doctors’ advice and discharge papers.

A few patients were still being treated in different wards. Compared with normal times, the hospital appeared largely empty and quiet, while some limited services continued.

Earlier, the relevant government authorities decided to cancel Ad-Din Hospital’s license over allegations of irregularities and breach of conditions. Hospital activity began to be affected gradually after the decision.

Those involved said patient admissions dropped after news of the license cancellation and had almost completely stopped within a day.

Some hospital employees also expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s decision. A few staff members reacted negatively to the presence of media personnel. As the day progressed, the number of media representatives outside the hospital’s main gate increased. They stayed there to observe the situation and gather information.Uncertainty remained among patients, relatives and employees about the hospital’s future operations after the license cancellation. Many said they were worried because they had no clear information about the next steps.
