BNP's central executive committee member Adv Nipun Roy Chowdhury has secured three-month anticipatory bail by a High Court bench in a case filed over a clash between Awami League and BNP in Dhaka's Keraniganj.
An HC bench of Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the bail order on Monday in presence of Nipun who appeared in the court with head injury from hospital at 10:30am.
She was on a wheel chair.
Senior lawyer Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Barrister DEbashish Roy Chowdhury and Mithun Roy Chowdhury were in the court on behalf of the petitioner. Adv Omit Talukder represented the state.
On Friday (May 26), supporters of Awami League and BNP clashed in Keraniganj during BNP's rally. At least 50 people of both the parties including Nipun were injured. She needs six stitches on her head.
Later, Sumon Miah, a local AL activist, filed the case with Keraniganj Model Police Station on May 27.
