Truck movement on ferries will remain suspended for six days -- three days before Eid-ul-Fitr and three after the Eid, said State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Thursday.
"Trucks with essential goods and perishable items are out of this purview. Normal trucks and covered vans will be restricted to run on the ferries from April 17 as Eid-ul-Fitr's scheduled date on April 22."
Khalid Mahmud came up with the information after a meeting at his secretariat office in the city.
"As no motorcycle will be allowed to ply on the Padma Bridge, we are thinking of alternative ways for its movement," he added.
