More rainfalls are likely to drench Bangladesh in the next 24 hours, with monsoon being fairly active over the country and moderate over North Bay, the weather department said on Friday.
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places across the country, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said in its forecast.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.
The BMD recorded the highest 35mm of rainfall in Madaripur in the 24 hours to 6am on Friday.
Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) said the flood situation in Sylhet, Sunamganj and Netrokona districts may keep improving, while it is likely to remain the same in Kishoreganj and Brahmanbaria districts in the next 24 hours.
The flood situation in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogra, Sirajganj, Tangail and Jamalpur may also improve.
Besides, there is a chance of short duration floods in low-lying areas of Rajbari, Shariatpur and Madaripur in the next 24 hours, as per the forecast of the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre.
