Meher Afroze Chumki and Shabnam Jahan Shila have been elected president and general secretary respectively of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League, an associate body of ruling Awami League.
Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of new leaders at the Sixth National Conference of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League held at historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier, Meher Afroze Chumki was the Women Affairs secretary of Awami League. On Saturday, Jahan Ara's name was announced as the Women Affairs secretary of Awami League.
Besides, Simin Hossain Rimi MP was made presidium member of the Awami League.
Menwhile, Shaheda Tareque Dipti was made president of the Dhaka City North of Mohila Awami League, while Hasina Bari Chowdhury general secretary.
Sabera Begum was made president of the Dhaka City South of Mohila Awami League, while Parul Akter general secretary.
Awami League president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina was present at the conference as the chief guest.

Earlier, the last conference of the organisation was held at March 4, 2017. According to the constitution of the organisation, the conference is scheduled to be held after every three consecutive years. However, the conference was held this year after long five years.
