BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia underwent angiogram test in city's Evercare Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

A 12-member medical board of the hospital recommended for angiogram test to check the condition of her heart as she suffered a coronary cardiac attack, said her personal physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.

Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said, "Khaleda Zia's angiogram has been done under the supervision of cardiologist Dr Shahabuddin Talukder. She has been kept under 72-hour close observation at the Coronery Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital. Her condition is not critical but it is still 'unstable'."

The team took the decision in its hour-long meeting as the BNP chief suffered an acute coronary heart attack early Saturday.

The doctors will take the decision of her next treatment as per the angiogram report, Dr Zahid Hossain added.

The medical board has asked Khaleda’s family members to take steps for sending her abroad for better treatment.

Around 3:20 am on Saturday, Khaleda Zia was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) of the hospital as she fell sick at her Gulshan home.

The 76-year-old former prime minister has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, kidney, lung and eye problems.

"She needs to receive advanced treatment abroad, but the government has long been denying her permission to go there," Zahid Hossain said.

He believes Khaleda will be able to recover completely if she is allowed to go abroad for treatment.
