Breastfeeding corners at all work places, shopping malls, bus stops, railway stations and airports across the country should be set up, according to a High Court verdict on Sunday.
An HC bench comprising Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Kazi Ebadot Hossain delivered the verdict following a writ petition filed by Advocate Ishrat Hasan on October 24, 2019.
Earlier on October 24, 2019, Ishrat Hasan, mother of nine-month-old child Umair Bin Sadi, filed the writ to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children breastfeeding.
In the petition, the mother sought directives to set up breastfeeding corners at all public and private workplaces where she will never feel uneasy feeding their children.
First time in Bangladesh, a nine-month baby has filed a petition to the High Court. After a long legal fight of around three years, the HC today delivered the verdict.
