The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on bail petition of accused Imran Hossain Jitu for three months in Awami League general secretary Zahidul Islam Tipu and college girl Samia Afran Preeti murder case.
Till then, Jitu's bail will be stayed.
A three-member bench of the Appelate Division led by Justice Md Nuruzzaman passed the order.
Deputy attorney general Md Jahangir Alam was at the court on behalf of the state, while lawyer Abdun Nur Dulal on behalf of the petitioner.
Earlier on May 16, the Appellate Division withdrew the bail order of Jitu for hiding information related to the case.
Both Tipu and Preeti were killed in indiscriminate firing at Shahjahanpur in the capital at night on March 24 last year.
Later, Tipu's wife Farzana Islam Dolly filed a murder case with Motijheel Police Station.
Slain Tipu was a contractor at different government departments. He was a member of the Motijheel Ideal School and College governing body. Tipu was also the owner of a restaurant where Omar Faruque was Awami League general secretary.
