Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir slamming the government today said it has grabbed everything like an octopus.
"The government has grabbed everything like an octopus. Swallowing everything. We are not agitating to go to power. We are agitating to free the country from them," Mirza Fakhrul said during a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office on Friday (15 September).
"In every police station, there are cases against BNP activists. We are sad that some educated people are supporting the government. So where did our 90's anti-dictatorship movement and liberation war dreams go?" he added.
The BNP secretary general said, "The government thinks the people of the country are fools, whatever they think will happen. This is their misconception. The people of the country are not stupid."
BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Advisor to Chairperson Abdus Salam, Assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Organising Secretary Abdus Salam Azad, Emran Saleh Prince and others were present during the press conference.
