The government has started disbursing Tk 57.25 crore in incentives among 10 lakh farmers to promote the production of Aush across the country.
A total of 10 lakh farmers will get seeds and fertilisers under the programme, said a handout of the Agriculture Ministry.
A farmer will get five kgs of seed and 10 kgs of DAP and 10 kgs of MoP fertilizers for cultivating Aush on one bigha of land, it said.
The incentives are being provided from the agriculture rehabilitation support sector under the regular budget of the Agriculture Ministry.
The government has a policy to promote aush cultivation, including Aush paddy, seeing it incurs lower production costs and is less vulnerable to natural calamities.
The disbursement will start soon at field level, it added.
